The Onion: Dinosaur Extinction Editorial

I just finished up this illustration for new weeks 'The Onion: Year in Review". The editors requested an illustration of the dinosaur extinction in a classic school textbook style. I looked at alot of old Jonny Quest matte paintings as well as gouache paintings of dinosaurs. It should be on newstands next thursday if you have a chance pick it up.

Thanks to Nick Gallo and Joe Randazzo for the fun assignment.

Max Fish Anniversary Show: Art Basel Miami

So I have some artwork in the Max Fisch Pop-Up Bar down in Miami this week. If you happen to be there you should definitely grab a drink and peruse the work. Lots of super talented people have work in it so I recommend it. If you aren't in Miami, no worries. The show will be up in the actual Max Fish in the next week or two.

Thanks to Tino & Harry for their hard work!

Factory Fresh announces the opening of its October Group Exhibition Grand Champions Forever, Never Say Die curated by John Breiner. Whether through fine art, photography, design or curation each of the original Grand Champions have developed into guiding lights and influential forces in their respective practice.
It is with great pleasure and excitement that once again the Grand Champs have been reunited to celebrate tradition and the vibrant mélange of current work that has blossomed from this talented collection.

Culture Magazine: Dual Culture

A while back my friend Jun Sugai from Staple Design asked if I wanted to be involved in a newsprint large format zine project. The premise initially was that everything was by hand. I did a few large ink drawings. As a drawing exercise in theme with the project I drew the pages in ink freehand with minimal pencil drafting. The drawings I submitted are part of my ongoing "Invisible Empires" series which I started in 2001. All of my drawings are rather imperfect and honest as I did not use any straight edges or fix my "mistakes" to refine things. I have yet to see them in person but you can see some sample spreads as well as purchase a copy at Jun's Blog.

32 pages, Black Ink on Newsprint for $5 dollars. Supplies Limited.

Contributors: Jun Sugai, Gary Fogelson, Tim Diet and Mr. Kiji

Overdue Update

Sketchbook page by Ben Niznik and Bager 34
So it's been long overdue. I've spent a majority of the past month taking some away time from the computer and drafting table. There are some new projects and shows in the next few weeks which I'll be involved in. One notable item will be a zine available for purchase in my shop section. It's a collaboration between myself and the talented Ben Niznik of KlaimCo. Only 30 copies were made and only 15 available through me. They look great and can't wait to share them with you. In the mean time bare with me as I catch up and get some of the new work up.
